The Roman empire and today’s cup of coffee

One of the fascinating things that the Codex has helped me think about is the importance of absolutely everything that happens in life. There is no such thing as a detail that is too small.

Ever since the Big Bang, every event has caused a literal, physical change in something else. As long as that change is not zero, it is significant in profound ways. Physical changes in things ultimately cause changes in choices around those physical things. Choices instantly put things on a moral scale (good choices and bad choices); all with their own implications and consequences. Alas, this is how the physical and “spiritual” are linked.

We can essentially pick any point in history and say that if they didn’t happen exactly as they did (ie; the existence of the Roman Empire ), even something as mundane as you drinking your coffee this morning, would have happened differently and may not have ever happened at all! (Your parents may never have met at the exact time they did etc). This idea is presented in the Moral Codex on our home page as something called the ‘Inevitable Present’. If you are curious, check it out!

Until next time, sip your morning coffee a little more slowly and consider watching a good documentary about the Roman empire : )
